Just got mugged

It's just about as much fun as you might imagine. *sigh* Not injured - cuts and bruises. Didn't take anything - just jumped me from behind, hit me a few times, and ran off. *sigh*

My head hurts, my pride hurts, I had to wait two hours in the ER before they would clean the blood off my face, and insult to be-damned-injury, I have to go into work early tomorrow.

There are discrete points in time where life just sucks.

Oh, the few people who have my cell phone number? Don't bother for a bit - think I dropped my phone in the squad car when the cops took my statement. Can reach me by email, work phone, work email, or smoke signals if you're really, really good.

Well, annoying anyway. Mostly the only thing that really hurts is my jaw, which makes swallowing, talking, laughing and eating kind of painful.

The laughing is relevant because one of my paralegals wants to know if she can claim she beat me up so she can up her street cred. Given that she's a 5'0" tiny Jewish girl from South Florida, she doesn't HAVE any street cred.

Didn't take anything, but I lost my phone in the aftermath. Which is why I couldn't call you after the news of the hostage thing.

That was actually my second reaction to the whole hostage thing - "Oh, so THIS is how my day could get worse." Sandwiched in between "Oh, shit, please don't let that be Quinn" and "Oh, good, it's New Hampshire."
