It's good to be home

And even better that after only a few weeks, this place has become home to the back of my head. It was fun being back in NC for a little while, but it's good to be home.

That said, my alma mater does throw a helluva high school reunion. It says something that after all this time, my classmates would pop up from across the country, from San Fran and Portland and a few from Europe, just to see each other again. I saw a lot of people I hadn't seen since out mutual graduation, and found that the ones I loved then, I still love now. Comforting, that.

Didn't spend as much time with many of them as I'd've liked - so many people there, so little time for one on one conversations, and I'll never really be comfortable in crowds. Sad. But Gahagabunny, Marci, MJ the incomparably wonderful, Gina, Gina, Froggy, and all the rest - it was wonderful seeing you again. And in a further vote for moving here, turns out a fair number of my old compatriots live here in DC and environs, including one who lives not but a few Metro stops away. Funny ol' world.

All in all, a good weekend. Wish I had another day before having to run away to work and the joy of being a new associate lawyer, but ya can't have everything - where would you put it?

I like it. You can't have everything - where would you put it?

Glad you had a good weekend and DC is so quickly becoming home to you.

Glad you are settling in nicely to DC life.
What area are you living in?

I see you are a regular of the lovely Metro system.
Fond memories, from visits to DC.

Ah, asked and answered from a previous post.
Dupont Circle.

Dupont Circle, actually. It's kind of nice - I'm only about a 20-25 minute walk into work, although I've been taking the Metro lately because the weather's been a little iffy. May start walking more once it gets cooler.

Yeah, I am vaguely familiar with Dupont Circle.

That's not a bad round of walking. I imagine you wear comfy shoes then switch to more lawyerly footwear once you reach the office.

I try and walk a mile or so each day myself, at breaks, lunch and when I get home. The Tobacco Trail (bike and walk) is just up the woods behind here.

And now that it is fall, even better.

No, at the moment I'm just doing the lawyerly footwear. *grin* Which is why it's a 20-25 minute walk - I am assured that real walkers could do it in under 15.

My firm has an arrangement with the luxury hotel next door to use their workout room/spa/sauna for free. I'm still not certain if I want to go there or just join the Washington Health Club across the street from the firm.

Damn, you really are a Washington lawyer.
