Why are there always Mondays?

*mildly plaintive*

Actually, not so bad. I spent the entire morning working on a research assignment that my assigning senior associate assured me would only take a couple of hours. Turned in at 2, just got back (at 7:00 pm) with major revisions requested. By tomorrow. *sigh* Still, it is an interesting assignment, if frustrating.

And I really can't complain too loudly. I'd've gotten more work done if I had gone in over the weekend the way I had planned. But spent most of Saturday trying to get my new spiffy laptop set up, and then Saturday night having dinner with Artaxastra, Penknife, Tricksterquinn and the VSP. Whee, fun!

Then on Sunday, the incomparable Quinn was kind enough to show me the Dupont Circle Farmer's Market, and we fell to spending far too much money on great bread, cheeses of many kinds, cider, antique apples (yay!) and homemade jams. Which we then promptly converted into an ersatz picnic, munching good food and with Quinn showing off her penmanship with my other dorky new toy, a fairly spiffy Namiki vanishing point fountain pen. (Yes, I'm a dork. My friends say so, my family says so, I say so. What's yer point?) A truly lovely, incredibly non-productive day.

Which means, of course, that I'm gonna have to remote log on to my work computer and get some stuff done until Studio 60 comes on. And maybe after it goes off. *grin* Can't complain, though - really was a great weekend. [livejournal.com profile] griffdog, if you're ever up here, I need you to help me get the new laptop to play nicely with the wireless networks in Dupont, and/or to help me set up a router network here in the apartment. So I can pretend to work while watching Studio 60.

Hope everyone's having at least as much fun as I am!
